This year we are thrilled to be hosting the Highland Dance Company of New Zealand, which will perform its world-class show "Heart of the Highlands" - a fantastic spectacle telling Scotland's stories and legends through the art of dance. This elite troupe is made up of the country's very best highland dancers including former New Zealand champion & current runner-up Angus Hendry.

We present a full programme of PDANZ solo bagpiping competitions, from novice through to A grade (excluding piobaireachd). There is also a chanter section and where time permits we may also hold an all-comers event for non-registered pipers. Entries close 25th March. Entries may be made online up to the day but a penalty fee will apply per event entered.

Te Anau Tartan Festival is proud to announce a NEW ELITE INVITATIONAL Highland Heavyweight competition.
Competitors include some of New Zealand's leading Highland Heavyweight men and women including current Australian Highland Heavyweight champion Craig Manson.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your piping skills and knowledge from one of the best college pipe tutors and grade one soundmen in the country, Mr Graeme Bryce.
The Novice & D Grade workshop will include an introduction to bagpipe maintenance and a step by step process to learning a new tune. (2 hours)
The C Grade+ workshop will include drone tuning, setting chanters, technique and bagpipe maintenance (3 hours)

A series of highland dancing exam workshops (sessions for all highland grades) will be held on Sunday. In addition there will be senior and junior workshops led by Highland Dance Company of New Zealand members covering strength and conditioning, elite performance insights, and a Q&A session.
This is a unique, not-to-be-missed opportunity for competitors to further develop their performance and learn from some of NZ's leading senior dancers and two of the best tutors in the country.
