Highland Storm

Electrifying fusion of Pop, Celtic and Kiwi Music

Come and dance the night away at a one-night-only,
tartan-tangledl celebration on April 1st with Highland Storm's eclectic repertoire of Scottish, Kiwi and pop music to stir the Scottish blood.

Featuring lead vocalists Simon Green and Hollie Longman, Highland Storm, was formed in 2022 to deliver a special high-energy entertainment twist to festivals, conferences and parties. Several of its members will be familiar to Te Anau Tartan Festival audiences, having performed previously to sold-out shows as members of the band Pipeworkz, which performed at the festival in 2017 and 2019.

Last year Highland Storm performed to high acclaim at the Arrowtown Autumn Festival and Alexandra Blossom Festival.

Unlike the seated concerts held as part of the Tartan Festival in the past, this year’s will feature casual,
cocktail-style seating and a dance floor for people to mix and mingle and enjoy the music, with refreshments available throughout the night.

The show will bring a modern and Kiwi twist to a traditional Scottish Ceilidh. Ceilidh descends from the Gaelic word for a gathering or party and is synonymous with a fun-filled night of great music, dancing and company.

About the festival

Celebrating Southland's Scottish heritage in a fun-filled, family event, the Te Anau Tartan Festival has been delighting visitors and locals alike since 2013.

Our full festival is held every second year at Easter, the programme includes highland dancing, Scottish bagpiping, professional and modified (for the whole family to have a go at) highland games, a huge array of market stalls, as well as fabulous Celtic-inspired evening entertainment.

However in the in-between years we hold a special show, concert or ceilidh - the proceeds going to make the following years festival even bigger and better!

The next full festival will be Easter 2025 but look out for other events in between!
